I grew up in San Diego County where my father was a produce vegetable farmer. I graduated from Fresno State College in Agricultural Science and worked for two different Ag service providers before my career in production agriculture began. I worked for the largest cotton farmer in the country for 20 years in various management capacities including seeing that the necessary equipment needed to protect the farmland from flooding during years of high rainfall was maintained and available. I represented California cotton growers on the National Cotton Council Board and served on the California Ginners Association Board while working in production agriculture.

I moved to Discovery Bay in 1998 with my wife Beverly and we have enjoyed our life on the water in the delta. My elected community service experience prior to my election to the Reclamation District 800 Board was 15 years on the College of Sequoias Board in Visalia. Other community service experience was as the Kings County YMCA president, Corcoran Community Foundation treasurer and involvement with various youth sports groups when my three sons were participating.
